RADAG AG
Green power, living Rhine.
For over a hundred years, the Rhine has not only been producing water, but also energy - clean and renewable. The Albbruck-Dogern Rhine power plant (RADAG), the number two among the eleven river power plants on the High Rhine, is a centrepiece of this technology. It has been making a significant contribution to environmentally friendly electricity generation since 1933. A quantum leap was made in 2009 with the commissioning of a weir power plant: a plant that redefines efficiency. Every year, 610 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity now flow into the grid - enough to supply 150,000 households of four people each.

RADAG has realised an impressive project on the High Rhine that has significantly improved the ecological quality of the region. Through the construction of a weir power plant, targeted measures were implemented with two main objectives: to enable the return of salmon to the High Rhine and to create optimal living conditions for grayling, an ecological flagship fish.
This ambitious endeavour was not carried out in isolation. An ecological advisory committee, consisting of representatives from the authorities and nature conservation organisations, accompanied the planning and implementation of the measures. This co-operative approach ensured that all steps were carried out in accordance with the latest ecological standards and in consensus with the interest groups involved.
The topic of hydropower takes centre stage. Energy and sustainability are explained in detail with lots of information. An image film shows what RADAG AG is all about.
