New Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad bends - Solution - Lifehack
The new keyboard behaves very well. It looks great. However, it costs ten times as much as products from other manufacturers. The integrated battery, which is charged via the iPhone cable (usually lying around on the table), lasts forever. I rarely switch the keyboard off. Nevertheless, it runs and runs. If I take the keyboard with me - you switch it on at the back with a small slide switch - it is immediately connected to the computer.
Unfortunately, the keyboard bends downwards in the centre. I had already read this in the comments on the Apple Store before I bought it.
This Apple product is not cheap and should not happen.
Send it back? That would certainly be the right thing to do.
Cause of the bent "Magic Keyboard with numeric keypad"
It's hard to believe that the Apple quality management team would let such a banal design flaw pass. The Apple employees themselves should realise that the design is not right. Or maybe they didn't try out the keyboard themselves?
After a short time, the keyboard bends downwards in the centre to the table. At some point, the keyboard also wobbles.
The reason for the warping of the keyboard is the missing feet in the centre of the housing. The chassis simply doesn't seem to be stable enough to cope with the load of only four feet. Stupid.
- Firstly, I stuck a few post-it notes underneath. Doesn't last long. That's clear. I then added two new feet using the all-purpose hot glue gun.
- Preheat the hot glue gun
- Bring the Magic Keyboard to the right height with Post-it
- Smear chapstick on the table where the feet will be. Then remove the keyboard from the table.
- Apply two small dots of hot glue to the centre of the Magic Keyboard, place it on the table and leave to cool

Nevertheless - it's cheeky to put a product on the market like this.
PS: This has nothing to do with TYPO3 or web design,... ;-)
